It all began with a deep connection & appreciation for the forest and an endeavor to entrench myself in it. Little by little, I have chosen a life where I spend most of my time out in the wild both to gather my food and enjoy the land. Nature is beautiful because it is raw and untamed. It is not prejudice, it does not care if you feel safe or comfortable, it does not cater to those who are "entitled", and heck, it doesn't even place you at the top of the food chain. It is blunt, peaceful, and humbling. One thing that is certain, is if you spend enough time in the wild, it will change your perspective on life. Forever. It will teach you it's language, change your focus and your pace. It will make you feel small, and you will grow. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the woods and the wild life whom make it their home. My way of enjoying it, is to participate. Every time I'm in the woods, I have a purpose. Whether it be foraging for mushrooms, berries, plants, herbs, mining, fishing, hunting, and of course gathering my "forest finds". It gives me great satisfaction to know where my food comes from, how it got to my table and that the meat we harvest is humanly gathered with respect and compassion. Being a hunter-gatherer is a spiritual experience for me. I feel a profound connection to the wild, accepting that I too, am part of the food chain. I feel at home, living life the way our ancestors did. Simple, free, and connected. Having lived off the land for nearly a decade, I am very much in tune with natures requests and boundaries, only collecting what is in abundance. I am grateful for all that the land offers me.
It makes my heart swell in happiness to share something so dear to me, with all of you. By wearing my jewelry out of some of my "forest finds", you too are honoring the woods with me!
